Yoga Academy (YA) 800 One Year Part Time Ashtanga Yoga Teacher Training

The aim of the YA800 Yoga Teacher Training Course at the Auckland Yoga Academy is to begin to develop qualified instructors in the Ashtanga Yoga field. The course is based on the Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga  style taught by our Guru, Sri K Pattabhi Jois (1915-2009) who was in turn taught it by his Guru T. Krishnamacharya (1888-1989). By following in the footsteps of these two great teachers and thus honouring the Ashtanga Yoga lineage, students at the Academy are taught the pure essence of the eight limbs approach.

The teachings are packaged into an accredited Yoga Alliance training course that initiates aspiring yoga teachers into their long and everlasting journey to becoming not only competent instructors and ethical business owners, but setting them on a path of personal growth and transformation that equip them with the tools to develop both spiritually and professionally.

Unlike other short courses, part of the training takes place in real classes, on real people, not other yogis. Monitored closely by Jude and Peter, students are then able to work with diverse bodies with unique physiques and situations. Trainees are also taught the skills needed to run a successful and ethical yoga school through assisting in the day to day running of the front desk and class management.

Consisting of 800 hours of both practical and theoretical training, this course is an asset to those not only looking to train as a yoga teacher, but for individuals looking to deepen their practice and understanding of the yoga teachings.

YA500
If we practice the science of yoga, which is useful to the entire human community and which yields happiness both here and hereafter – if we practice without fail, we will attain physical, mental and spiritual happiness and our minds will flood toward the Self.
– Sri K. Pattabhi Jois.

You guys did such a good job! I truly realize how precious everything I have received from you was and how the course in yoga allowed me to grow so much professionally and personally. It is hard to describe the thoughts I’ve had, but I hope you know every day how much I appreciate you two as my teachers and as my beloved friends. It is such a privilege that I have had the chance to share and change my life with you. And to know you as people, as friends, not just as teachers. I truly miss all the boat trips and our chats and chai and everything. I feel I’ve received so much from you and NOW is the time that I have the opportunity to transform all that I love and energy to the yoga community here in Finland.
